Scott Anderson has been a fixture on the Southeastern bluegrass and gospel circuit for almost two decades. He began with the contemporary and Southern gospel of First Light, then played the traditional bluegrass sound of the Bluegrass Parlor Band, followed by the driving grungegrass of Endless Highway , the sweet gospel of Gentle River, and the hot bluegrass of The Jim Hurst Band .

The Flatiron M2 mandolin, made in Montana.
Great sounding little mandolin - and it's LOUD! I bought it from another guy about 16 years ago - I think it was built in 1983. In very good condition - some pickwear but no serious flaws. Has McIntyre pickup installed. With HSC. $650 + shipping and insurance.
(you'll see only 4 strings in these photos because I was making it easier on my daughter who was learning with it)

Tiffen UV filter 55mm
The lens + polarizer and UV filter for $60.
Hutto mandolin #137 - a great instrument. Original varnish finish by Scott Jackson, slightly widened fingerboard and slightly deepened body (similar to Gilchrist.)
Dempsey Young (of Lost and Found) played it in 2004 and told me it sounds much better than his own Hutto. When I said I'd like to try his Hutto, he told me something like "Well since you're used to this one, you're gonna think mine is a dog." Adam Steffey played it and called it "a great axe" and "a monster."
This one is definitely a unique and fine instrument.
$18,500 firm. Will consider trades involving your old Martin guitar.
There's Dempsey saying this is a good one!
That's a straight neck.
1999 Ken Ratcliff Silver Angel mandolin #83 for sale
This is a very nice sounding and playing modified f model with distressed look ("wear" mark on top) as well as 10 actual years of age on it. Many striking extras including abalone bindings, carved one piece back with intricate carved vine "R", Angel inlaid on peghead and "R" inlaid on back of peghead, abalone vine inlaid on fingerboard, fancy tailpiece and some beautiful wood. Comfortable V neck feels great in your hand and it plays great. Nice tone with strong chop.
With really cool Travellite case (at least I think that's what's it's called.)
$3100 plus shipping and insurance (or better yet, see it and buy it in person)

Standard 5/8" Grover type 5 string banjo bridge $5 (unused)
Stockwell moon bridge for 5 string banjo $15 (briefly used)
Why compensated bridges? According to common sense, if a string is a set length and the string is fretted in the middle, it should be exactly half the number of vibrations. If all strings are the same length, then the middle should be half for all. Well, the math just doesn't add up here. The shorter the strings become, the worse the problem is. To help correct this problem, we offset the problem string, therefore making them longer.
